CMS Design (NIH’s NIDDK/Sapient)

Scientists had multiple biographies depending on the roles they played (eg researcher biography + staff biography). Diagram helped communicate to developers the flow logic when a scientist edits their biography.

Each biography had multiple pages to enter content, with special logic to consider.

Problem

NIDDK (NIH) scientists wanted to have direct access to maintain their online biography, but the content management system (CMS) was too complicated to train 200 users.

Solution

I simplified the content entry experience into a workflow, allowing scientists to access a secure section of the website to update only their biography.  The flow allowed scientists to edit multiple versions of their biography at once.
